I know a person running SolidWorks 2001 on an NT workstation, but he isn't
satisfied because of the relative instability of the operating system
(sometimes there are unexpected crashes and the only way to manage them is
an hard reset of the computer).
He have told me that there is also the Unix version of this program (a
very heavy, sophisticated and expensive software for CAE/CAD) but the
help desk of the software house has not been of much help in telling him
the performance differences on the two platforms.
The other problem is that its worksation has some particular hardware that
could be not supported by any OS.
Anyone knows if the following configuration is supported by Linux
Mandrake? It is a 733 MHz bi-processor on a motherboard with chipset 694X
at 133 MHz, 512 Mb RAM, 30 Gb HD UltraATA 100 (or 30 Gb HD SCSI
Ultra-160), and a graphic card Elsa Gloria II with 64 Mb video RAM with
Nvidia Quadro Processor.
My main doubt is about the graphic card: does anyone know if it is
supported or not?
Thanks in advance
