Good day to everyone.

The problem:
My boss has been trying to send email with attachments (postscript files,
image files) but when he does, they disappear. No error messages are
received, but the recipients do not get the messages either. Without
attachments, mail is delivered normally.

The situation:
The machine is a 1.1 GHz Athlon box with Mandrake 7.2.
All the updates have been applied through MandrakeUpdate.
KDE 2.1 has been installed by rpm.
Kmail is being used, along with postfix.

We administer our own network of about a dozen Linux machines.
We are behind an institutional firewall administered by the Informatics
group. I have set the machine to masquerade as the institutional domain
and have to use a relay host in order for mail to get through the firewall.

Mail without attachments work fine, but with attachments the mail
disappears, both locally and outside the firewall. According to syslog,
the mail was sent, but it was never delivered. e.g.

I have tested mailing attachments with mutt and had no problem getting
through the firewall (or locally), so the problem appears to be with kmail.
Has anyone else experienced this and (hopefully) have a fix? Or tell me
what I set incorrectly?

Thanks,
