Guys, this is a HUGE issue! There are millions of AMD K6-2s out
there -- a
large user base. I have one myself. If a new Mandrake i686 release
doesn't
properly recognize the architecture of these machines as i686 there will
be a
HUGE void in the potential user base for the new release. Not good for
Mandrake.

I have been following this thread fairly closely for curiousity
sake. From
what I have been able to gleen from the learned users that have
contributed is
that the K6-2 apparently has i686 archetecture.

The problem from my reading appears to be that Mandrake doesn't
recognize the
K6-2 architecture correctly. The logical solution would appear to be to
correct
the architecture recognition problem BEFORE the next shrink-wrapped
release to
avoid alienating this large user base.

I don't know how difficult this problem is to correct, but with all
the great
people working for and contributing to Mandrake, it can't be all that
difficult.
Above all -- when it is all said and done, it is the small things, the
attention
to detial, that determines whether a distro gains or loses market share.
