Hi,

Since Mandrake 7.1 (I'm using 7.2 now) I've had a problem using Gnus with
XEmacs. The second time starting up Gnus, XEmacs reports a "Wrong type
argument: chararcterp, 116" error and Gnus fails to start. Closing XEMacs,
deleteing ~/.newsrc.eld, and restarting XEmacs enables Gnus to start
successfully again; but the next time I close and reopen Gnus it will again
fail with the same error. There seems to be some problem in reading the
~/.newsrc.eld file. Someone on the Gnus mailing list suggested that this
problem occurs when Gnus is byte-compiled with Emacs but run under XEmacs.
Does anyone know if this is the case in Mandrake 7.2? Has anyone else had
this poblem?

Thanks in advance,

~Avdi
