Dear friends:

For some reason, during reinstallation LM72 did not recognize my Zip 100
meg USB drive. It always had before. I went into DrakConf, Hardware, but
it didn't bring up my Zip drive.

During bootup, I get a big red X next to "USB interface"

Here is what I have tried to do:

1) /etc/modules

[sher@sher07 sher]$ cat /etc/modules
scsi-adapter
usb-interface
[sher@sher07 sher]$

I know there is something wrong with the first line. Should it be
scsi_adapter or scsi-interface or what?

2) I added a zip directory to /mnt/zip

[sher@sher07 sher]$ cd /mnt/
[sher@sher07 /mnt]$ ls
cdrom/ disk/ floppy/ windows/ zip/
[sher@sher07 /mnt]$ cd zip
bash: cd: zip: Input/output error
[sher@sher07 /mnt]$

As you can see I've got a problem.

And, yes, there is a Linux cartridge in my USB zip drive.

3) Added a line to fstab and mtab:

 [sher@sher07 sher]$ cd /etc/
[sher@sher07 /etc]$ cat fstab
/dev/hda6 / ext2 defaults 1 1
/dev/hda5 /boot ext2 defaults 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext2 defaults 1 2
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom 0 0
/mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount fs=vfat,dev=/dev/fd0 0 0
/mnt/zip mnt/zip supermount fs=ext2,dev=/dev/sda 0 0
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/windows vfat user,exec,umask=0 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb5 swap swap defaults 0 0
[sher@sher07 /etc]$

[sher@sher07 /etc]$ cat mtab
/dev/hda6 / ext2 rw 0 0
none /proc proc rw 0 0
/dev/hda5 /boot ext2 rw 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts rw,mode=0620 0 0
/dev/hdb6 /home ext2 rw 0 0
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount rw,fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom 0 0
/mnt/floppy /mnt/floppy supermount rw,fs=vfat,dev=/dev/fd0 0 0
/mnt/zip /mnt/zip supermount rw,fs=ext2,dev=/dev/sda 0 0
/dev/hdc1 /mnt/windows vfat rw,nosuid,nodev,umask=0 0 0
automount(pid638) /misc autofs rw,fd=8,pgrp=638,minproto=2,maxproto=4 0
0
automount(pid658) /net autofs rw,fd=8,pgrp=658,minproto=2,maxproto=4 0 0
[sher@sher07 /etc]$

Note 1: All of my Linux cartridges are formatted for the ext2 file
system. Never had a problem.

Note 2: the device has always been /dev/sda, NOT /dev/sda4 in my case,
probably because it is formatted as ext2. Just guessing. But that's the
only way it works. Changing sda to sda4 never works.

Never had a problem before. LM72 always recognized my Iomega USB Zip
drive. It's just a configuration problem.

Would very much appreciate your help.

Thank you.

Benjamin
