Hi

In bash, what you see in the prompt is the $PS1 variable. you must have changed it 
somehow. type the command 'export PS1="[\u@\h \W]\$ "' in the shell (without the ''). 
In the next line you should see the right prompt. If it works then set the variable in 
'/etc/bashrc'. I guess tcsh has the same variables, so if you use tcsh then consult 
the man page.
