If you cannot upgrade your firmware to the 256k version, it means you
have an OEM version of the card which has a 128k firmware eprom and

I've been hoping that one day, some servers I have access to could
run Mandrake Linux, but alas it won't run because of these kinds of
faults.
PS You could also try the web sight and find out if there is a newer
version of the DAC960 drivers that might support your hardware.
