Dear friends:
Looks like I've solved the Winbod Detection logon error message by
shutting down certain services in Startup Services (#ntsysv). When I
reboot now, LM 8.0 boots up correctly and properly to my logon screen in
the console with the prompt waiting for me.
The last serious problem has to do with the reboot/shutdown problem.
Sometimes, LM 8.0 reboots correctly and sometimes it doesn't. Same for
shutdown. Sometimes, it shuts down properly, more often bootdown stops
at: "Unmounting file systems".
During bootup, when LM 8.0 reboots properly, there are no error
messages, LM 8.0 detects eth0 and eth1, the root files systems mount
properly (NO "uncleanly unmounted, check forced"). But when LM 8.0
freezes during reboot or shutdown, I get an "uncleanly unmounted, check
forced" error message (with red OK check mark) and the following error
message shortly thereafter:
"Checking filesystem quotes: c\Cannot stat mountpoint: No such file or
directory."
(the word above is "stat", not "start").
I would appreciate any help or suggestions on this. Please remember that
I am an ordinary user. But I am doing my best.
Thanks so much.
Benjamin
