I'm no Samba master, but for me to get it to work, I
had to log into Windows with the same name I told
Samba about.

You add a user to Samba with smbuseradd (or is it
smbadduser?).

I don't THINK that you MUST have a Linux user by the
same name of the Samba user, but I'm not sure. I
think you can export directories based on the Samba
username. And you would set that up for the user in
/etc/smb.conf. I happen to use the same name for
everything. So, I haven't tested this.

In short, make sure to give Samba a user name and
password. Log into windows with that exact name.
When prompted, enter the password.

Other accounts on the Windows machine see my Linux box
and the exported directories. However, they cannot
access the directories.
