When I start up X, my cursor appears for a split second in the middle of the
screen and then moves farther right and up. What's causing this? It's only
cosmetic, but I don't like when my machine does things I didn't tell it to do.
This happens before any window manager starts. (I could tell, by adding a big
delay to my .xinitrc before starting the window manager--it still happens
immediately.)

I'm running Mandrake 8.0, XFree86 4.03, and using a Matrox G400 card. The
monitor in XF86Config and XF86Config-4 is a "Generic|High Frequency SVGA,
1024x768 at 70 Hz". (But is actually running at 800x600).

Also, XFdrake doesn't work for me. I get an error "modprobe: Can't locate
module serial". If I let it continue anyway and test a mode, testing modes
that I know should work (800x600, 65536 colors) cause a black screen and a
hang until the test finishes.
