[expert] Can't install Mandrake 8.0?? (Uable to mount root fs...)

Hi!

I have installed Mandrake 8.0 on DOZEN machines so far no problem. But on on
this particular one it won't install!
It is a rackmount Intel machine with normal IDE disk! No scsi, radi...

No matter if I boot from CD, Floppy, do text or graphics install, do NET or
CDROM installl....Nothing helps, always same result!

I get:

Cannot open root device "" 08:05
...
Kernel panic: Unable to mount root fs

It seems like it can't mount the ram drivers it created!?
