[expert] Setting umask on Nautilus, Konqueror

Hi all,   How does one go about changing the umask used by Nautilus and/or Konqueror?  I've tried setting it in "/etc/profile"and other places, but nothing I do seems to change it from the standard 022 mask, even though it works normally for my shell.  I'm running Mandrake 8.0.   Thanks,   Dave Del Signore
