I made a mistake--the driver is GPL rather than proprietary, but NOT current.
The binary within is microcode for the controller much like IBM's MWAVE
soundcard/modem. It works with 2.2 kernels. I see nothing in the Make Config
of Kernel 2.4 relevant to this particular one and I am unable to find anyone
working on it for 2.4.
So RH 7.1 would require a kernel downgrade to use it, as would Mandrake 8.0.
