I had this exact same thing when trying to install LM 8.0 on an older 
machine. In my case it turned out to be the CD (disc) itself. I had 
burned it using a CD-RW, and the drive wouldn't read it (it was an older 
drive). I burned a new one on a CD-R, and all went well.
