Is there an easy way (sans NIS et al) to share files with NFS and keep the user ids and group ids in synch? I'm having a terrible time even though the user id and group id match between my Linux client and Linux server even though the numeric value of each id on both servers match. Although permissions seem correct, I am seeing a lot of write failures when the files are chown'd to an id other than the one I am attempting to write with. chgrp's seem to have no effect in this case.
