I upgraded from kde 2.2 alpha to the latest beta from cooker. All works
fine, and kde looks great but on both my laptop and desktop systems, kdm has
been killed. It wont run and doesn't start up after bootup.

I am still looking for error messages to indicate why but so far I haven't
found any. The second thing killed on both my systems is sound. My laptop
had sound working fine with kde 2.2 alpha, using alsa for the essolo1
builtin. My desktop is an AOpen AK72 athlon mobo with a via686a AC97 sound
unit built in. It too was working prior to upgrading to the beta.

I also upgraded arts with both systems. In both cases, I get a message that
/dev/dsp couldn't be initialized (wrong argument). Does kde 2.2 beta
completely change the way it does sound? Did the latest arts completely
change?

I got no unresolved dependencies when I installed everything yet kdm and
sound are toast.
