I wrote earlier about receiving a dial-out error message "pppd daemon died unexpectedly" every time I dial out using either KDE-kppp or Gnome using my Linux Mandrake 7.0 PC and 56k MRI external modem.

My \etc\resolv.conf has my ISP's DNS settings.

My \etc\ppp\options file previously was just

noauth
lock

I have amended this file to now look like

lock
noauth
defaultroute
ipcp-accept-remote
ipcp-accept-local
idle 300
but still receive the "pppd daemon" died error.

I have included my Modem's settings in this email (please see below).
The only changes I have made are
in the Guard Time from 50 to 255
and
in the Initialization String by adding &D2&C1&K0&M0 after ATZ.

This is what my Modem settings look like

Device options
Modem Device /dev/ttyS1

I would be grateful if anyone could point out any errors in these Modem settings or anything else that may help me.
