I have been trying to find a graphics app that can actually handle
postscript/eps images WELL. I used gtkgraph to produce a plot and regression
curve. Problem is, it doesn't appear to allow one to set the output size so
it produces a graph that fills the available print space on a page.

Too big.

I tried the Gimp but, to put it nicely, it sucks. By this, I mean it doesn't
do ps very well at all. I open the ps output from gtkgraph in Gimp and it
really poorly renders (and prints) the postscript file. I was trying to use
the Gimp to scale the image down so that instead of an 8" x 8" graph, it
would be a 4" x 4" graph that can be cut and pasted into a lab notebook.
It looks like hell. Blocky and with dropped pixels so some numbers and lines
are almost nothing but a scattering of dots on the paper.

Is there a graphics app that can do this properly and produce GOOD postscript
printable output?
