I have a few glitches I am trying to fix. First three come out of kdm:
 1. I have gnome and blackbox installed besides kde. The only things that
show up in the login menu for selection are "default", "kde", and "failsafe".
This now brings me to number 2. Selecting "default" causes the screen to go
black for a moment, then kdm comes back with nothing happening. I have to
actively select "kde" in order to get kde to startup even though I thought
"default" would automatically select the last wm/environment you logged into
(it doesn't in my case - it doesn't do anything).

3. I cannot simply change user icons in kdm as I should. When I hit the
user icon window to change/select a user icon, instead of flipping through
the numerous tux-based icons, I get the system icon list as if I am trying to
change the icon for an application. I have to manually browse over to the
kdm directory to select the icon.

The final glitch I want/need to fix relates to arts. When I start a kde
session, I get a message telling me I need to run artswrapper as root or with
suid. Huh? Should I set suid on artswrapper? Is that the normal method? I
never got this message before kde2.2 beta. For now I set suid on artswrapper
but wonder about the wisdom of this.

Can anyone help me with these glitches? I have looked for kdmrc thinking
that this would be the file to effect changes in kdm behavior but looking at
it I see the actual kdm I get at startup bears little resemblance on several
fronts to kdmrc (the many wm sessions listed do not show up in kdm, the user
list doesn't match - instead the default kdm behavior is to list just about
every system service as a user, a bug that comes and goes with every other
kde release, it appears).

I would appreciate any help that can be offered,
praedor
