Hi all, I found the answer to the below problem I thouht I would post it in the hope that it may one day do someone some good.. to stop the ident verification from every client on pop3,,, go into xinetd.d and edit ipop3 where you see log_on_success += USERID and log_on_failure += USERID put a hash in front of both,, that stops xinetd from looking for a ident server on each client.. I also added a line to the effect: only_from = 192.168.1.0/24 (obviously you should match that to your internal IP range) also its a good idea to set your firewall to not allow connections from Internal IP's through the external interface to stop someone ip spoofing your internal IP's to get a connection... see: man xinetd and: man xinetd.conf the later is what details this issue. rgds Frank -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Franki Sent: Sunday, 22 July 2001 11:49 AM To: Linux Mandrake Expert Mailing List Subject: [expert] Failed to contact identity server at 192.168.1.2: timeout Hi experts, Does anyone have any ideas about the below?? I have looked all though sysconfig and every other possibly related file I can think off, but can find no reference to 192.168.1.2 Exactly what files does the drake conf net configurator change?? apart from the usual stuff... Hi, does anyone know what this means and how I can get rid of it? it happens whenever someone tries to use pop3 on this box... as a result, it blocks the connection... I set it up using the mandrake tools... in drakeconf MDK7.2 powerpack. rgds Frank
