I recently installed a 3ware controller in my system. Seeing that in
order to create a RAID 5 array with this controller you had to wipe out
all drives that are being put into the array and seeing that I have gone
through a number of mdk upgrades without doing a fresh install, I
decided to do a fresh install of mdk 8.0. The configuration of the
array and the install of mdk 8.0 went without a hitch once I allowed
myself to sleep enough to read CD labels properly.
Before I did a wipe and re-install I was running mdk 8.0 and I had
installed the updates necessary to get xcdroast to work properly. Now I
can't seem to make it work after doing the updates for this new
install. Here is what I get when I run xcdroast:
[root@tick root]# xcdroast
** ERROR **: cdrecord -scanbus output syntax error
aborting...
Aborted (core dumped)
Here is my checklist so far:
1.) Installed mandrake_desk-8.0-10mdk, cdrecord-1.10-1mdk.i586.rpm,
cdrecord-cdda2wav-1.10-1mdk.i586.rpm, xcdroast-0.98-8mdk.i586.rpm with
Mandrake's Software Manager. (mandrake_desk came out of the general mdk
8.0 updates instead of cooker.) Did a rpm -U for
mkisofs-1.13-7mdk.i586.rpm off of the last Mandrake freq image
(MandrakeFreq-20010619-inst.i586.iso) from a loop back device. Note
that that as I messed around with Mandrake's Software Manager I ended up
de-installing and re-installing some of these RPM's.
2.) Made sure my IDE burner (hp 9100i) has SCSI emulation set up for it.
( hda=ide-scsi in append statement in lilo.conf.) Also when I mount a
CD-ROM in the drive the drive mounts as /dev/scd0 and seems to work
properly.
Some questions that I have are as follows:
1. Are there things that I need to pay extra close attention to when
using Mandrake's Software Manager?
2. Does de-installing and re-install RPM's hose things up?
