Hi,
I am having a problem with a SCSI Card that I have added to an already
installed Mandrake 7.2 System
The system was originally installed as an IDE only system but I have
need to use a SCSI CD Writer on the box (It's all we have at present)..
The BIOS detects the card and drive ok on boot, and when the card was
first installed and Mandrake was booted it was detected as a new piece
of hardware. I must say at that point that was all I had connected, no
drive was attached at that time.
The Drive and card are NOT displayed during the boot sequence, is this
because I am not booting from a SCSI device ?, and when the system is
up, I have to modprobe the card for me to see the card and CD Drive.
The card is added to /etc/modules.conf as
alias scsi_hostadapter advansys
alias scsi0 advansys
Do I need to pre-install and/or modprobe the card on boot ? in addition
to the lines above.
I am getting strange seek errors when I am writing a CD, is this because
I have added the card and drive after the system has booted ?
Any help appreciated.
