Is using an unpatched Mandrake 7.0 as a firewall a good idea? I haven't
seen any updates for the 486 edition in the mandrake mirrors.  You
certainly can't use .i586.rpm packages with it, and I'm not sure that you
have rebuilt those fixed packages for your 486.
