Hi: I recently bought a Philips external USB CDRW404 unit. I can initialize it using: modrobe scsi* modprobe usb-storage cdrecord -scanbus I use gtoaster and I can blank a CD-RW disk, fast or full, without any problems. But I can not copy a CD because I get buffer timeouts, and it will just hang forever. Only a system reset will restore it. I have also tried with xcdroast and koncd.
