well, SNF is based more on mdk7.2 then anything else, and it doesn't run X,, so yeah, it should work just fine with a 133 and 40 mb ram... I don't know how they have implimented Snort on SNF, if its using mysql, and you have a busy network, you could find that Snort is what slows the system down... I have 7.2 with X running on a P166 with 32 mb of ram, and its not the fastest thing around, but it works ok.. ITs just an internet gateway for a company and it performs its task well. rgds Frank -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of John W Sent: Thursday, 2 August 2001 5:03 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [expert] Simple Network Firewall hardware check I am considering implementing the Mandrake SNF but the box I want to use is an old Pentium 133 with 40MB ram. I can upgrade the ram to 64 do you think this will work ok? TIA, John
