I just recently installed mandrake 8.0, which installs cups 1.1.6 as the printer daemon. I haven't been able to get it to work at all yet. The errorlog seems to indicate the problem lies with the /usr/lib/cups/backend/parallel executable. When I was running 1.1.6, the process would exit with status 1 with no error message. I just upgraded to cups1.1.7 and now it exits saying it is not able to find the parallel device. Does anyone have any ideas what's going wrong? If not could someone tell me at least how to determine which device it is trying to access?
