Hi, Bryan.  You have several options here:

1. Install version 0.8 of the HP OfficeJet Linux driver
(http://hpoj.sourceforge.net), which is now in Mandrake "Cooker."  Since
you have a 1200 and not a 1220, disregard the part in the documentation
about setting up scanning.

2. Hack "/usr/src/linux/drivers/usb/printer.c".  See my suggested hack at
"http://www.geocrawler.com/mail/msg.php3?msg_id=5622496&list=2571";, as
well as "http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=50218"; for
what RedHat is doing about it.
