If I specify the remote host by ip address, ssh prompts for a password immediately. I can ping the remote host by name, and nsswitch.conf looks fine (everything is using files and dns where appropriate - no nis or nisplus here). Both machines are running the same version of ssh packages - 2.9p1 or so. This did not happen with both machines at LM7.2 and I can connect to either machine from a Windows machine running teraterm by name with no problems at all. thanks in advance!
