In XF86Config-4 you can add the "Resolution" option thus:

Section "InputDevice"

    Identifier "Mouse1"
    Driver "mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "PS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/psaux"
    Option "Emulate3Buttons"
    Option "Emulate3Timeout" "50"
    Option "Resolution" "250"

# ChordMiddle is an option for some 3-button Logitech mice

# Option "ChordMiddle"

EndSection

I would also recomment checking up the "DisplaySize" documentation in the
following section. It has nothing to do with the mouse, but with the font
sizes.

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "ViewSonic|ViewSonic PF790"
    VendorName "ViewSonic"
    ModelName "Unknown"
    DisplaySize 365 270
