The Ontrack software operates on the same principle as EZ-Drive and creates a "special" protected sector on the hd prior to the MBR and no amount of formatting will remove it. The only manner in which it may be removed is by uninstalling it. You can then fdisk /MBR and format the hd with the utility of your choice including the Mandrake installation. Charles (-:
