I wish I could help.  Is the boot disk a RAID array?  Maybe 
it would be simpler to boot off of a JBOD.
(Note that striping multiplies [by however many disks you have]
your chance of loosing data.  If 1 disk goes, so goes the 
stripset.  Disks are verey reliable these days, but stuff happens...)
