Hi,

today did some testing with Linux-Mandrake 8.1 beta 1. I tried to setup a
system using ldap-authentication from the installer.

Hmm, looks nice I tought, reviewed the ldap settings (ldap dn and
ldap-host=localhost) and finished the install. After rebooting I got the GDM
login display, which, unfortunatly, didn't let me in. Alright, after
rebooting single user, I figured out that the client applications were
installed and the configuration looked fine at first sight.

The ldap-server wasn't installed. Ahumm. Let's try again and select the
ldap-server package in addition to my previous package selection. Install
went fine, allthough, no login allowed.

I suppose the ldap-server install didn't configure the system for use with
ldap-authentication.

So, Is there someone in the [expert] area that managed to run 8.1B1 with ldap
authentication, or, dear Mandrake developers, do can you provide some hints
on making the ldap-authentication work?

Thanks,

Lieven
