Tom, The setup I have is as follows: Celeron 333 clocking at 500Mhz with CD r/w and dvd running win98se as windoze addr. 192.168.0.1 Tosh. 2520CDS laptop (converting to LM8.0) as sneezy addr 192.168.0.2 Pentium 133 desktop with CDrom as doc - addr 192.168.0.3 SGI indigo2 running irix 5.3 as graphix - addr 192.168.0.4 All are interconnected using a hub and for the purposes of this discussion I am only talking about windoze and doc. windoze is my main Internet machine and any other internet access is achieved using ICS on win98se. I set up DNS using BIND 9.1.1 on doc and got it working as far as possible before setting up ICS. (I used the DNS Howto with LM8.0 and a guide I found with www.troubleshooting.com/linux/dns which helped clarify an issue or two!) The guide I used for ICS was for Troubleshooting ICS and setting it up with fixed IP addresses - MS article Q238135 After installing ICS I set the following TCP/IP parameters on windoze: home - IP addr 192.168.0.3/255.255.255.0 Disable WINS Gateway 192.168.0.1 - DNS host doc DNS Search Order 192.168.0.1 share - specify DNS host doc and Search order 192.168.0.1 Internet Connection Sharing specify DNS as above Ensure DNS is enabled on all the TCP/IP protocols otherwise you may find you will be using your ISP's DNS. The final setting I had to make was to define the default gateway route from doc to windoze using ipconfig. Output from "route" shows: 192.168.0.0 * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth0 localnet * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo default windoze.mikes.cxm 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0 Touch wood - everything should work OK. The biggest problem I found early on was changing the IP addresses on the eth0 cards. You must power the PC off for 10 - 15 seconds if you do this so that the correct network address is established in the hardware. I had this problem for a while before I found an obscure reference on the Internet!
