Hi, Trying to upgrade to Mandrake 8 on T22 Thinkpad. This has a known bug which disables the mouse. However the Mandrake solution, quote: -- Mount the installation CD-ROM: mount /dev/cdrom Change to the /mnt/cdrom/images directory Create a new CD-ROM boot floppy: dd if=cdrom.img of=/dev/fd0 Reboot with the installation CD in the CD-ROM drive and the floppy containing the patch in the floppy drive. Be sure your BIOS is set to boot from floppy diskette. Press F1 when the first boot screen comes up to get the syslinux boot prompt At the syslinux prompt type: patch -- Does not work because the floppy/DVD/CD are hot swappable i.e. I can't have both in at the same time. I've tried swapping them at the appropriate point but... it then complain there is no CD and prompts for a driver. No driver appears to work, although the flashing light on the laptop indicates that the hot swap hasn't worked anyway (didn't really expect it to). Does anyone have an alternative solution? (I'd like to know how they managed to do this in the first place.. unless other thinkpads have cable floppy drives) Cheers -- Simon Millward CEO OpenMSG Ltd. www.open-msg.com
