It is going into the kernel 2.5 development tree. A 2.4.3 kernel with xfs is available in our beta2 foir those who wanrt to try it. ext3 can work much better on systems that make use of nfs, because nfs supporting Reiser is breakable rather simply. Reiser is improving again after a really bad start with kernel 2.4, but it is at least an order of magnitude morew complex than ext3 and still appears a little more fragile than would be oiptimal. The test program we use is available on http://perso.mandrakesoft.com/~civileme/sledge. It is two files, one calling the other and it generates 100,000 data files fairly quickly then exercises the filesystem and finally removes the files when you post the stopiing file. The programs are in plain text files and call the Python interpreter. Documentation is the comments at the top of FSledge1. No one should run this at any partition with live data files on it.
