Entering xhost +localhost added the localhost without problem but I still cannot startx from the console as user. root access only. I am stuck here with what to do. I have ran the software mgr. as it is called and notice that X4.03 is still listed as installed along with X 4.1. I know that X 4.1 is cooker but it just doesn't make sense that this upgrade cannot be handled by the software supposedly designed to perform such a task. I think this goes hand-in -hand with the thread regarding "fundamental problems with Linux..."
