I use agetty. in your /etc/inittab you must add a line to tell you system that i should print a loginprompt there I.e.: 7:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty -L 9600 ttyS0 vt220 9600 is the baudrate. You must enter the same here and in your terminal emulation.
