OK. Here it goes:
I have been working w/ Linux for years now and have come uppon something
like this. Even w/ my first laptop installation with RedHat 5.0 I haven't
had such a hard time with XFree86.
Here is the output from SuperProbe:
First video: Super-VGA
Chipset: Silicon Integrated Systems 630 AGP (PCI Probed)
Memory: 8192 Kbytes
RAMDAC: SiS built-in DAC w/clock
(with 6-bit wide lookup tables (or in 6-bit mode))
The video card works fine with an external monitor but won't work with the
LCD panel. So I figure it's no the card settings but rather the monitor
settings.
I have tried all my bag of tricks with the sync parameters and playing long
days with them without any luck. It seems that no matter the resolution it
always displays in 640x480 and trying to set up a virtual screen.
This is a brand new Twinhead laptop. They have usually shipped with a
multi-sync type LCD screen and usually the generic multisync works fine.
I have done some research and I found this here:

Display/XFree86-4:
Trying to use sax or sax2 doesn't work.
You need to start the two prgrams with the option fbdev.
That means, XFree will only run with frame buffers.
Here is my XF86Config for XFree 4.0.3. (SuSE 7.2)

I looked at this guy's XF86Config and found nothing related to sax or sax2
or the fbdev option. Perhaps they go in lilo?
Could some advise on these setting and what this person means by sax, sax2
and fbdev?
Thanks
