  There sems to be some confusion about the meaning of "formatting the
drive".
  You can do two things:
  EREASE the CDRW - that is easy, use the standard package cdrecord, and
the command will look something like: "cdrecord blank=fast speed=4
dev=0,0,0"
  FORMAT the CDRW in udf, and than record things to it in a way similar
to other drives (it would look like the normal hard drive). - that is a
completely different matter and requires two sets of software:
  the packet-cd kernel patch (link above) and the cdrw tools form the
udf package at:
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/packet-cd/linux-udf
  You actually need cdrwtool and mkudf from this package. There is some
documentation with this two packages. The installation requires kernel
recompilation. From my experience I can also add, that udf writing works
better with scsi emulation turned on for IDE CDRW drives.
  If you are wondering I was/am using udf writing on Mandrake since the
7.2 version with no problems.
