Hi!
I have tried to install a 8.1 box for the following tasks:
router with public wireless IP adapter ---> private IP ethernet
card
web/mail server
NAT for the private range internal IP network
CBQ scheduler and shaper for bandwidth limitation
It worked fine with 7.2, but without CBQ so I decided to install 8.1
(after unsuccesful upgrade of 7.2 :( )
The install gone through, the box is up, and I tried to install the PCMCIA
package,
because I never succeded getting work the kernel built driver.
Therefore I have to recompile the kernel to disable kernel PCMCIA support
and
kernel radio interface support. OK
There are few module compiling problems, and many more during compilation
of pcmcia-cs.
After getting out every unused modules, it succeded.
When I boot up the eth initialization script tells, that some othe device
is already using 192.168.1.1 address :(
I am starting the wireless, OK.
The most interesting is that there is no more DNS resolving!!!!!!!!!!
I can ping anything, nslookup works, but no traceroute, neither with domain
names, nor IP addresses, nothing!
(not nothing, but very-very slowly)
The only way to traceroute, to write the router hops manually to the
/etc/hosts file.
After it works (only that direction)
The other problem is, that everithing is strange slow!!
I cannot log into a second terminal because after typing the passwd the
terminal goes to timeout!
When ther is only one network card in the machine, it works fine.
What can be the problem?
My first guess is firewalld, but I cannot disable it, or enable everything
for a while, because
both ipchains and iptables responding incompatible kernel version.
My second guess is ReiserFS ? I have read on this list earlier, that some
ext3, and journalling
FS has some problems. My 8.1 box's all partitions are ReiserFS, except
/boot
