First, congrats on finding the problem.

Actually, it sounds like a programmer made an implicit assumption on the
panel, which breaks when the panel isn't in the default position (for
example, getting a handle to the panel by querying the window manager for
the botom-most window, and not checking for a NULL return value). This is
the kind of bug report that programmers love. Welcome to Sun's QA team...
(you did report this to them, right?)

Im sure all of you will call me a liar (i did) but i found the answer to the
problem. If the panel in kde is up the left hand side (where mine is) this
installer doesnt work, and the program, if installed correctly just
segfaults. However moving the panel to run along the bottom results in both
the installer and program working flawlessy (and it is a nice office suite
btw). I could not, and still can not believe this.
