Yes. I verified mixer settings. I do have more information though... after booting the machine, when I load xmms, it hangs for a good while... and then closes automatically. The next time I load it... it works. I have sound. Everything seems normal. I have no idea why it hangs. KDE system sounds begin to work as well.
