Hi, I am using a MDK 8.0 on an Intel Celeron with 128M RAM and most things are working very well except for one problem, which is very troubling at times. I simply cannot read a CD-R disk properly, whenever I copy something from a CD-R to the hard disc the program exits with a message like "Could not read xyz.tar.gz..." etc. This happens whenever I use any 2.4.x kernel.
In order to overcome this I have to reboot using a 2.2.x kernel and things work just fine with that. Is there some CD-R related bug in the 2.4.x series kernels or is some tweaking required in order for 2.4.x to read CD-R disc's? Any hints welcome as this reboot with a 2.2.x kernel is tedious to say the least. Cheers, Arnab
