take a look in /etc/X11/wmsession.d/. there are files that add the win manager to the login list. They are simple text files that point to the exec for the window manager. As for the icons, they are added manually as are the menus. So you have to edit the text file....extensively. The default rc file, sets up the basics and a few menu items under the start menu.
