I have been building a few packages from source such as evolution and its support. I would like to insert somehow into the rpm database that this has been done - specifically bonob-conf which has been built from source and is available, but rpm does not know about it. Issueing a --nodeps is a bit dangerous when there are a lot of dependencies.
Should I be building ALL tar stuff (or rather cvs which is what I am building from) into a src rpm, issue a "rpm -rebuild" and install it from there? Is there a less messy way such as just telling rpm that this package is there, even if it has not been installed as an rpm? BillK
