I have the same graphics chipset in my laptop. I have never been able to find a workaround for the problem, and only use xfree 3.3.6 on this machine. If you dont need opengl i would reccomend you do the same. The only thing missing then is font anti aliasing, and as long as you set your default fonts properly, you wont need it. In the desktop however, you may want games etc. so i would reccomend upgrading the graphics card anyway, as these cyberblades are not as good as the name makes them sound.
