I think that failure is that the rpm can't remove the conf file because of
the newer samba rpms..

I got that message myself, but the removal still worked, it wasn't listed in
the rpm db..

So do the rpm -qa |grep samba again... and see if its still there..

Also, can anyone give me a quick rundown on what "samba-winbind" is for?
when I installed the samba 2.2.2 rpms, I found that there now but I don't
really understand what its for..

Subject: [expert] What to do when 'scriptlet failed'

Hi,

I have Mandrake 8.1 with samba 2.2.1 working fine, when I do

rpm -qa |grep samba

I Get:

samba-client-2.2.1a-15mdk
samba-2.2.1a-15mdk
wizards_lib-samba-2.0.9-1mdk
samba-2.0.7-25mdk
samba-common-2.2.1a-15mdk
samba-doc-2.2.1a-15mdk

If i try to get rid of samba-2.0.7, which is no longer used I get this
error:

[root@keops ~]# rpm -e samba-2.0.7-25mdk
error: execution of %trigger scriptlet from samba-2.0.7-25mdk failed, exit
status 1

It seems that the uninstallation script is broken.

How can I get rid of this obsolate package?

I think it is already partially removed, I could remove all files with a
shell script but hw can I tell RPM to delete the package from it database?

Thanks in advance.

Jose
