Are you using NTFS under Windows XP or Fat32?  If you are using NTFS, the
linux kernel does not have NTFS write support compiled in by default (since
it is still very experimental).

You have to understand that Microsoft doesn't release any of it's source
code, including that related to it's filesystems, so everything has to be
carefully re-constructed from scratch, without knowing any of the details.

Anyways, last I heard they had experimental NTFS 4 write support--and only
read support for NTFS 5 + (what Windows 2000 / XP use).
