Hi all, up till now I have always used chat scripts to connect via ppp on all the boxs that use dialup for their connections...
Until reciently I discovered the wonderful wvdial, which solved some interesting problems, (like an ISP that used two different routers that required different connect scripts,, the only things that could connect were kppp and wvdial. So now I want to make wvdial my default install for dialup... however I have one small (well, not so small) issue, using the chat scripts on boot and ifup ppp0 both bring up the ppp0 interface and all of its virtual interfaces, I have one box that does mail for 8 domains, and it has ppp0, ppp0:0 and so on.. none of them become active using wvdial,, does anyone know how I can fix that? if I typed ifup ppp0 after wvdial has dialed, it would only cause prolems as it would try the chat script again.. should I make ifcfg-ppp0 empty except for the IP address, would it come up then along with its virtuals??? if so, I could add wvdial and ifup ppp0 to rc.local and it would solve the problems... any thoughts anyone??? rgds Frank
