In Response to this query:

This is what has "worked" for me. I don't consider this a solution...
Install each rpm by hand in the folloing order:
wget-1.7.1-3mdk.i586.rpm
popt-1.6.3-0.34mdk.i586.rpm
rpm-4.0.3-0.34mdk.i586.rpm
rpmtools-4.0-1mdk.i586.rpm
urpmi-3.1-2mdk.i586.rpm
rpmdrake-1.4-4mdk.i586.rpm
with the following command:
# rpm -Uvh xxx.rpm
keep in mind, my rpmdrake _STILL_ crashes occaisionally. with each cd that it asks
for mount it with the following:
# mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom
I'm going to try upgrading my mount package. I'll let you know if I find anything
after killing some more time on it.
